The initial Series 1 came in 1941, a total of 69 wreckers series 1 were produced. Series 1 wreckers design was simpler than the following series, they had their front winch powered through the gear box, no rear winch, but they had a small pulley mounted to the rear body instead, and hand operated crane boom. Spare wheels were mounted crosswise behind the cab. They were painted in olive drab and originally used 11,25-20 tires.
